SudoStudy marks written answers against the question's mark scheme and explains each decision. Upload handwritten scripts or assign a digital quiz, then review the marks and feedback before returning results to your students. This guide shows how to mark exam papers with AI, from preparing scripts to sharing reports.
Find your subject and exam board →In August 2026, SudoStudy compared marks from Gemini 3.7 Flash with examiner marks in Cambridge Example Candidate Responses. The essay subset reached 95.9% mark-weighted alignment, rounded to 96%. This is a historical benchmark of that model, not a measurement of the current grading model, a school outcome or Cambridge endorsement.
| Scope | Answers | Available marks | Absolute mark difference | Alignment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essays worth at least 10 marks | 18 | 314 | 13 | 95.9% |
| All included answer types | 94 | 670 | 42 | 93.7% |
For each answer, take the absolute difference between the AI mark and examiner mark. Add these differences, divide by the sum of available marks, then subtract from 1. For the essay subset: 1 − (13 ÷ 314) = 95.9%. This is not the percentage of answers marked identically: only 9 of the 18 essays received exactly the examiner mark; across all included answers, 61 of 94 matched exactly.
The sample covers Cambridge A Level Economics, Business and Physics practical graphs, plus O Level Economics and Business. It combines development and validation cases; the essay subset includes 13 training and 5 validation answers. It is not an independent held-out evaluation and does not establish accuracy for other subjects, boards, models or handwritten classroom scans. Physics Paper 2 records were excluded because answer images showed examiner marks, which could leak the reference answer.
Teachers should review the awarded marks and feedback against the mark scheme. A fresh evaluation is needed before applying this result to the current model. Last source review: 27 September 2026.
Source: SudoStudy's committed per-answer benchmark records, run on 16 August 2026. The model attribution follows the experiment notes; one Economics result-file header has a documented model-name error. The records are internal, and this review recalculated scores without rerunning grading or independently auditing every image.

Prepare and upload scans →Create a quiz in SudoStudy and print it for a paper-based assessment. Once students have finished, scan their responses and upload them for marking.
Follow the print-and-scan guide →Choose questions from the subject library and share the quiz with your class. Multiple-choice answers are checked automatically; written responses receive AI marking and feedback.
Create and assign a quiz →Open the quiz results to inspect individual responses and the feedback behind each mark. Compare that reasoning with the mark scheme, and use teacher overrides where a mark needs correcting.
Use the class and student breakdowns to identify topics that need another lesson. Student reports bring those results together for progress reviews and conversations with parents.
